Google, TinEye, Yandex and PimEyes each solve a different piece of the puzzle — and none of them can look inside Tinder. Here is the honest playbook, in the order most people should try them.

Uploading a Tinder photo to Google or TinEye almost never works, because Tinder photos sit behind a login and are never crawled. Those tools match identical files, not faces. To trace a Tinder photo you need a face-matching search that queries dating apps directly rather than the open web.

Two things make Tinder photos different from a normal image you find on the web.
The file has already been re-encoded. When someone uploads a photo to Tinder, Tinder recompresses it, resizes it and strips most metadata. How to do it, on desktop:
On mobile, long-press the image in your camera roll and pick "Search image with Google." If the profile picture appears on an Instagram account under a totally different name, on a modelling agency page, or in a stock photo library — you have your answer. If nothing comes back, that does not mean the photo is real. It just means Google could not match the re-encoded file.
Cost: Free (paid tiers for pros). Good for: pixel-exact matches across a smaller but cleaner index.
TinEye is the oldest reverse-file-search engine still running. It skips visual similarity and focuses on exact and near-exact copies. That makes it slower to find "kind of similar" pictures, but very good at proving the same file has been reused. Upload the photo at tineye.com, then sort results by "Oldest" to see where the picture first appeared. If the oldest match is a 2019 forum post under a different name, the Tinder profile is not who they say they are.
TinEye's index is smaller than Google's, so use it as the second stop, not the first.
Cost: Free. Good for: matching a face when Google gives up, especially on cropped or filtered shots.
Yandex, the Russian search engine, has an aggressive computer-vision layer that ranks visually similar images including faces, without any of the privacy filtering Google applies. In OSINT circles it has a reputation for surfacing matches Google Lens misses. The workflow is identical: upload at yandex.com/images, look through the "Similar images" grid.
Trade-off: results skew heavily toward Russian-language sites. You will see plenty of matches from VK, RuTube and Eastern European forums even for people who have no connection there. Treat it as a lead generator, not proof.
Cost: Free tier blurs match URLs; $29.99/month to actually see where the face appears. Good for: finding other pictures of the same person on the public web, even if the photo has been cropped, filtered or re-shot at a different angle.
PimEyes runs a face-detection model on every image it has crawled, encodes each face as a numeric vector, and searches that vector index.
