How PartnerCheck Works: Our Search Method, Limits and Accuracy

A plain-English explanation of how a PartnerCheck search works: what we search, how face matching works, what confidence scores mean, and the cases where we return nothing.

FAQ

What does PartnerCheck actually search?

Publicly visible profile photos on major dating and hookup platforms. We do not log into anyone's account, do not read messages, and do not access anything a profile owner has set to private.

How accurate is the search?

Accuracy depends almost entirely on the photo you upload. A clear, recent, front-facing photo produces the highest match rate. Sunglasses, hats, group shots, heavy filters and photos older than about five years lower it. False negatives (we miss a real profile) are far more common than false positives.

What does a confidence score mean?

It is a similarity measure between the face in your photo and the face in a found profile photo, not a statement of guilt. High confidence means the two photos are very likely the same person. It does not tell you when the profile was created or whether it is still in use.

Why would a search return no results?

Either the person has no public profile on the platforms we cover, their profile photos do not show their face clearly, their profile is hidden behind a paused or incognito setting, or the photo you uploaded is too low quality to match. No result is not proof of anything.
