A different photo of the same person — different year, different haircut, different filter — still matches, because the geometry underneath does not change.
Two walls block every general search engine from this job. First, dating apps exclude crawlers in their robots.txt and require a logged-in session for any profile to render, so Google's index contains no dating profile photos at all. Second, Google matches image files, not faces — and it deliberately suppresses face matching for private individuals. Even a photo that did exist on the open web would return "visually similar" strangers rather than the person.
This is why running a partner's photo through Google Images and getting nothing proves exactly nothing. The apps were never in the index. We tested six tools head-to-head and the free ones all fail the same way.
The search is passive. Nothing logs in as you, nothing swipes, nothing views the profile in a way the other person can see. There is no notification, no trace, no way for the searched person to find out it happened.
